I am looking at a 1986 Kubota B2600HSDT, it is located at a dealer about 250 miles away. Can anyone shed any light on the history and reliability of these tractors.

The description of the unit reads 15hp 3cyl deisel, HST trans, MFWD, 60" mower, PTO, 3PT hitch.

The hour meter reads 66 hours, "RED FLAG" I know. Are there any other ways I can determine how much life is left in the tractor.

I need the machine for assorted landscaping projects on a 3 acre lot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Stowaway

I don't think that the T is in the code as it should just be HSD for hydro or DT for gear. At 250 miles you have a problem as you can't look at it. The tractors were a good unit. I just had a fellow in yesterday with a 9200 that is ready to update and there is nothing wrong with his tractor he just likes the new tractors features. ....

Easiest to check tire tread and transmission noise. Run the Mid PTO under load, with mower deck, on lawn if available. A mid mount mower deck loads the engine as well as anything. Good check for torque. Have the engine compresion tested if possible. Operate the 3-Point with a good sized ( 54" ) box blade. This is another good test for torque and transmission integrity. Check all the dip sticks looking for metal flakes and particles and clarity of the fluids. At 66 hours (suspicious), should only be 16 hrs since fluids were changed. Talk to the dealer, get the serial number, and try to get a good reason why a 1986 tractor was only used for 66hrs. ....
